    Welsh Heritage Celebration

    Our friends from the Welsh Valley Preservation Society for Towamencin Township will join WVWA to celebrate life in the 18th century from the eyes of those who were pioneers in our region.  Enjoy their displays and traditions from early Welsh and Germanic Pennsylvania.

  • Nature Stroll at Four Mills Reserve

    1:30 p.m.

    May is the perfect time for spotting spring’s ephemeral wildflowers, for catching sight of birds beginning to nest, and for exploring the banks of the Wissahickon Creek in search of reptiles and amphibians. Come stroll through Four Mill’s floodplain forest, and see what you can find!

  • Morning Bird Walk

    8:00 a.m.

    May 14th is Global Big Day! Come join us for a walk at Willow Lake Farm, which serves as important stopover habitat for the many beautiful species migrating north. As we walk, we'll compile a checklist of the birds we see and hear for submission to eBird, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's database.

  • Native Plant Sale

    General Public - Saturday, May 14, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

    Over 100 species of perennials, vines, ferns, shrubs and trees will be offered for sale at WVWA’s Spring Native Plant Sale. Knowledgeable staff and volunteers will answer questions and help you to select the native plants which are best suited for your garden site.  Plants will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

  • Rain Garden Workshop

    Learn about the most beautiful way to conserve water - building your own rain garden! Simple to install and maintain, rain gardens are a thing of beauty. They provide food and habitat for insects and birds, and help protect water quality by reducing stormwater runoff from your property.

    WVWA invites all birders to join the 22nd annual Wissahickon Birdathon.  During this friendly, two-day competition, teams canvass the Wissahickon Watershed and strive to identify the greatest number of bird species.

    Be part of the 46th annual Creek Clean Up of the Wissahickon Creek and its many tributaries.  Help WVWA clean up the trail and the creek bed too. Volunteers are pre-assigned to sections of the Creek and trail. 

  • Trail Steward Hikes - Ambler Connection

    Come see the ins and outs of our trails through the eyes of the Trail Stewards.  New starting this spring, our dedicated group of volunteers will led three sessions to explore our trails.

    Join Harm Scherpbier and Dan Greeley on an exploration of the Green Ribbon Trail from Ambler Borough.

    Purchase a professional, locally made, rain barrel from Camels Hump Rain Barrels.  Learn how to hook up and care for your rain barrel, retaining runoff and reusing the water in your garden!
