    Celebrate traditions from times past at the Fall Mill Festival.  Take a tour of Montgomery County's only water-powered gristmill and experience many hands-on, family-friendly demontrations including tin smithing, corn husk dolls, Lenni-Lenape story teller, antique cars and more.

    Join WVWA on a birding trip to the Delaware Bayshore, at a time when migration along the Atlantic Flyway is not to be missed! A place of astonishing biodiversity, the Delaware Bayshore provides opportunities to experience several habitats in a single day, from vast tidal wetlands and beaches to successional fields and upland forest.

  • Deer Exclosure Tour

    Join WVWA on a guided tour of deer exclosure sites.  The tour will focus on WVWA’s newest projects to understand one of the biggest threats to our biodiversity - deer herbivory. See two different examples, Crossways Preserve and Camp Woods, and learn how the projects were developed and how they are contributing to our mission of protecting and enhancing the Wissahickon Watershed. 

  • Family Walk at Crossways Preserve

    Join Margaret Rohde, WVWA Naturalist, for a walk at Crossways Preserve, when meadow and wetland flowers are in peak bloom! We’ll talk about ecological succession and meadow and wetland ecology, and keep an eye out for birds and butterflies as we stroll through one of WVWA’s most beautiful and diverse preserves.

  • Family Creek Exploration

    10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

    Explore the Wissahickon Creek at the Four Mills Reserve.  Investigate how fast it flows and hunt for eddies, riffles and other stream features. Explore using nets, buckets and tools to find out what critters are living in our back yard.

    Come join WVWA Naturalist, Margaret Rohde, and see bird banding in action! Learn about avian conservation and research techniques, and find out what information can be collected by catching wild birds. You may even have the chance to release a bird from your hand! 

  • Nature Collection Walk

    Come join WVWA Naturalist, Margaret Rohde, for a nature collection walk at Four Mills Reserve. Bring a clear plastic bag to collect all the interesting things you find along the trail, from acorns and feathers, to flowers, rocks and bark! We'll bring our findings back to WVWA headquarters to admire our collections together and ID what we can while enjoying some lemonade and treats.
