  • PFEC Sustainability Film Series

    Film: Living in the Future's Past
    6:00 p.m. Sponsor Expo, 7:30 p.m. Film 

    Pennypack Farm and Education Center presents three nights of movies followed by discussion groups led by panels of experts at the Ambler Theater. Each movie delves into a different aspect of sustainability. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for the Sponsor Expo in the lobby - WVWA will be there!   • 2019 Fireside Frostbite 5 Miler

    9:00 a.m.

    The Ambler Area Running Club proudly presents the 20th annual Frostbite Five Miler. Amenities include chip timing, great post-race food from Fireside Bar & Grille, and long sleeve tech shirts if registered by January 28.  The race benefits WVWA.   • Citizen Science Fair

    7:00 p.m.

    Come and learn about the new Citizen Science opportunities at WVWA. We will be discussing projects like nest box monitoring and raising monarch butterflies as well as many others. 

  • Maple Sugaring Festival

    12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
    Learn how maple syrup and sugar are made - a delicious and fun way to make science come alive! WVWA offers a very special winter event that is ideal for families, scout groups and anyone curious about the maple sugar process.  Guides take small groups through the woods to see the tapped trees and then watch it being boiled into sugar. End your walk at WVWA’s historic headquarters for hot chocolate and warm treats with maple syrup.

  • Annual Meeting

    6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

    • Online registration is closed, please feel free to join us if you have not registered.
    • Event will still be held if there is rain or snow. 

    Members and friends are invited to join WVWA Board of Directors and staff as we launch our 62nd year. Join us for good cheer and light refreshments at Germantown Academy as we honor the dedication, work and spirit of our community.  

  • Birds & Brews: Winter Birding at Peace Valley

    9:00 a.m.
    We will walk the trails of Peace Valley Nature Center and view their feeding station. Hopefully, the lake will be thawed enough to view a variety of wintering waterfowl. Lunch to follow at The Pour House

  • Bird Walk at Four Mills Reserve

    7:30 a.m.
    Join us before you start your day for a 30-45 minute bird walk at Four Mills Reserve. We will meet every other month (second Tuesday) at 7:30 A.M. We will explore a variety of preserves over the year and will have the opportunity to see different birds throughout the seasons.

  • Audubon Christmas Bird Count

    8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.


    Participate in the 119th Audubon Christmas Bird Count! Join WVWA staff and explore Four Mills Reserve and Willow Lake Preserve for winter species. If we are lucky, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Red-breasted Nuthatch and Winter Wren will have arrived!

  • Holiday Traditions at the Mill

    Holiday Traditions at the Evans-Mumbower Mill

    We've decorated the beautiful Evans-Mumbower Mill! Guides will take you for a fascinating tour to see the mill in operation and give you a history of milling on the Wissahickon Creek. This event is free. 

  • DIY Natural Ornaments

    6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

    Decorate for the holidays the natural way. We’ll have the pinecones, acorns and other forest finds. You bring the creativity and imagination.
