  • Rain Barrel Workshop

    Purchase a professional, locally made, rain barrel from Camels Hump Rain Barrels.  Learn how to hook up and care for your rain barrel, retaining runoff and reusing the water in your garden!

    The Ambler Area Running Club (AARC) has selected WVWA to be the beneficiary of the Phils Tavern Quarter Marathon on July 11, and we encourage all TexMex 5K runners to participate in this annual race, now in its 16th year!  Please come out to support WVWA!
     
    The race starts and ends at the Temple University Ambler campus at 7:30 AM.  Prize money will be awarded to top finishers, and fresh baked pies from Whole Foods will be presented to age group winners.  Plus, everyone gets a great post-race breakfast provided by Phils Tavern!
  • The Great Adirondack Century Run

    July 9-12, 2015

    Time: Departing Four Mills Barn on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 8:00 AM and returning Sunday, July 12, 2015 by 9:00 PM. Tour led by WVWA staff in rented van.

    Join WVWA’s Dennis Miranda and Jamie Stewart on a high octane, full throttle adventure of the Adirondacks. Explore the vast St. Regis River plains, discover the boreal forest of Bloomingdale Bog and reach the summit of Whiteface Mountain! Enjoy the quaint village of Lake Placid with their interesting stores and excellent restaurants.

  • Butterfly Walk

    Join Blaine Rothauser to discover the many varieties of butterflies that might be found in the meadows of Willow Lake Farm.  A brief talk about meadow ecology will be followed by a natural history tour and adventure.  Bring a camera, binoculars and a note pad as we guarantee to introduce you to the other-worldly pleasures of the meadow.

    Join us for a hike through wooded and wetland areas as we look for interesting plants and insects… and snapping turtles!

Discover the mysterious creatures of the night that fly under the cover of darkness with Blaine Rothauser, a lifetime naturalist and biologist who is President of BR Environmental Services.  Learn about the variety of moths and butterflies found in the Wissahickon Watershed.

  • Evans-Mumbower Mill Open House & Antique Car Show

    *UPDATED* Due to the forecast for rain on Sunday, June 21, the antique car show is cancelled but the Mill will still be open for tours. 

    Bring Dad (and Mom too!) to see a variety of antique cars for Father’s Day the Evans-Mumbower Mill, take a tour of the mill to see the water-powered gristmill in action.

    Bring your camera along for a hike at Willow Lake Farm, where 24 species of butterflies have been identified. Take photos of all the beautiful plants, insects, wildlife and natural wonders this preserve has to offer!

    The Designed by Nature Garden Tour will feature six Ambler area gardens that showcase native plants and naturalistic design to attract birds, butterflies and other pollinators.
