    Reforest the Wissahickon Day!

    Join WVWA at the Armentrout Preserve for a great morning of forest edge restoration that includes planting trees and invasive plant removal. Ideal for scouts, service projects and anyone who wants to make a difference in the Wissahickon Watershed. Wear gloves, a hat and bring a shovel. Snacks and tools will be provided. Busy that day? Purchase trees to plant through the Adopt a Tree program.

    Part one of the WVWA water conservation series considers the most beautiful way to conserve water- building your own rain garden! Simple to install and maintain, rain gardens are indeed a thing of beauty. Learn where to site, how to build and what to plant in your rain garden.

  • Preserve Walk at Armentrout Preserve & Camp Woods

    Walkers at the Arementrout Preserve • 1:00 p.m.

    Enjoy a walk through the beautiful Armentrout and Camp Woods Preserves. WVWA will offer two options – a fast paced exercise walk and another more leisurely guided walk. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.

  • Sustainability Movie Series: King Corn

     • 7:30 p.m. at the Ambler Theater

    WVWA is again a sponsor of the Pennypack Farm & Education Center’s sustainable movie series at the Ambler Theater. The three films each highlight important environmental issues. Movies are scheduled on the second Tuesday of the month in February, March and April.

    • Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for sponsor expo
    • $10.00 per film or $24.00 for all three films

    Hands-on science made fun! And delicious!

    Take a guided tour of the sugar bush through WVWA’s Four Mills Nature Reserve on the Green Ribbon Trail.  Learn about the trees, taste the sap and see it boil into syrup. Finish with a sweet treat and hot cocoa at WVWA’s headquarters. Program lasts approximately 45 minutes.

    • WVWA Members: $5 adult/$3 child (12 years and under)
    • Non-Members: $10 adult/$5 child (12 years and under)
    • Become a new WVWA member at $45.00 and attend for free

  • Winter Walk at the Four Mills Nature Reserve

    Winter is a wonderful time to be in nature. Bring a friend and experience a winter walk along the Wissahickon beginning at WVWA’s historic barn. Following the walk light refreshments will be served at the Four Mills Barn.

    This walk will be on a trail that may be wet or slippery in places.  Please wear sturdy, protective shoes or boots and dress for the weather. Hikes are cancelled in the event of inclement weather
