  • Family Creek Exploration

    10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

    Explore the Wissahickon Creek at the Four Mills Reserve.  Investigate how fast it flows and hunt for eddies, riffles and other stream features. We’ll also explore using nets, buckets and tools to find out what critters are living in our back yard. Ages 6 and up. Wear waders or old sneakers as you’ll be in the creek.

  • Piszek Preserve Celebration

    5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

    Celebrate the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association's new Piszek Preserve in Oreland.  Come meet members of the WVWA, the Piszek Family, your neighbors and conservation partners.  RSVP requested.

  • Butterfly Walk

    10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

    Join Blaine Rothauser to discover the many varieties of butterflies that might be found in the meadows of Willow Lake Farm. A brief talk about meadow ecology will be followed  by a natural history tour and adventure. Bring camera, binoculars and a note pad as we guarantee to introduce you to the other-worldly pleasures of the meadow.

  • Moths - The Silent Majority


    7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

    Discover the mysterious creatures of the night that fly under the cover of darkness with Blaine Rothauser, a lifetime naturalist and biologist who is President of BR Environmental Services. A talk and slide show is followed by moth “catching”, utilizing a special screen in WVWA’s courtyard.

    WVWA is looking for a dedicated group of volunteers to help monitor the health of the Wissahickon Creek and its tributaries! Volunteers will be asked to spend about two hours a month visiting an assigned section of the Creek where they will monitor a site, walk a section of the Creek, and report the findings back to the WVWA. Having new, trained eyes on the Creek will help the WVWA understand the Wissahickon better than ever.

    Bring Dad to see a variety of antique cars for Father’s Day at the Mill, take a tour of the Mill to see how all of the simple machines in action.

  • National Trails Day Walk from Four Mills

    9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

    John Ferro, WVWA Land Manager, will lead this walk from Four Mills Nature Reserve.  Walk downstream through Four Mills, Germantown Academy’s wetland complex, and over the new trail section and stream crossing to Skippack Pike.  Four miles of mostly easy terrain.

  • 5% Community Giving Day at Whole Foods Market, Plymouth Meeting

    Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association is proud to be chosen as the recipient for a 5% Community Giving Day at Whole Foods Market in Plymouth Meeting.  WVWA will receive 5% of the net proceeds from all shopping on Wednesday, May 21.  Bring your grocery list & tell your friends and family.

    Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting is located at 500 W. Germantown Pike, Plymouth Meeting.  The store is open from 8am - 10pm.
