  • Full Moon Nature Walk at Prophecy Creek Park

    7:30 p.m. - 9:15 p.m.

    Nature comes alive at night if you are all ears! Join WVWA Executive Director, Dennis Miranda, for a nighttime nature walk of Briar Hill Preserve and Prophecy Creek Park to explore the sounds of owls, frogs, foxes and other nocturnal critters.

    • Bring a flashlight and wear comfortable walking shoes
    • Meet in the Prophecy Creek Park parking lot; Skippack Pike
  • Walk on the Wild Side

    8:00 a.m.
    Participants begin their adventure in the Upper Gwynedd Township Park and can take a guided walk of the Upper Wissahickon (5 or 8-miles) or try the Challenge Hike (13 or all 21-miles) of the beautiful Green Ribbon Trail to end at the Philadelphia Canoe Club on the Schuylkill River.  All of the walks are guided and people are bussed back to the starting point.

     

  • Green Ribbon Gala at Dawesfield

    The Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association proudly announces The Green Ribbon Gala at Dawesfield, a special evening celebrating land preservation and three remarkable families whose commitment to open space has helped ensure that the valuable mission of WVWA continues for generations to come.  WVWA will honor the generosity of Beatrice and Robert Bast, the Carey Family, and Elizabeth and John Shober.

    Guests will enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and live music on the lush grounds of historic Dawesfield, a  revolutionary war estate that once served as the headquarters of George Washington after the Battle of Germantown.  

  • Old Fashioned Mill Festival

    ​1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

    Enjoy an afternoon filled with historic crafts, activities, live animal displays, music by the Now & Then Duet, and a tour of the Evans-Mumbower Mill.

  • Discover Willow Lake Preserve

    9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

    The Whitemarsh Township Environmental Advisory Board joins WVWA to sponsor a walk through Willow Lake Preserve to explore the fields and forests.  WVWA’s Executive Director, Dennis Miranda, will lead this easy hike down well- worn trails in search of migrating songbirds, late season wildflowers and nectaring butterflies.

    • Meet at trail entrance behind CVS at Butler and Skippack Pikes, Broad Axe
  • Ice Cream Social at the Evans-Mumbower Mill

     • 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

    Take a break from the summer heat and enjoy delicious ice cream treats on the lawn of the Mill.

  • Tex Mex 5K Race for Open Space

     • Starting at 6:15 p.m.

    Benefitting Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association.

    Run for the Environment! A festive run followed by an award ceremony and Party Under the Stars. Capped at 1500 runners and the race sells out early. Inquire about our green Ribbon Teams! 

  • Father's Day at the Evans-Mumbower Mill

     • 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

    Discover the Mysteries of the Mill - Solved and Unsolved
    A historian's role is to reconstruct the history of the Mill and the families that owned the Mill.  Researching historical documents, the discovery of artifacts and hearing stories told by the families' descendants help us to piece together the history of this Mill.

     • Free for members, $5 adult and $3 children 3-12; $1 for fathers

  • National Trails Day Upper Wissahickon Preserve Walk

       •  1:00 p.m.

    ** This walk has a new starting point due to work being done on the trail **

    Explore the upper section of the Green Ribbon Trail.  Start at West Prospect Avenue in North Wales and walk to Route 202/DeKalb Pike and back, a distance of 3.3 miles.  View the stream restoration work that WVWA completed this year.

    As an added benefit, Whole Body Yoga will be offering a 1-hour yoga donation class, prior to the walk,  from 11:30 – 12:30 to raise money for their Green Ribbon Team for the Tex Mex 5k Race. All proceeds will benefit WVWA! The Whole Body Yoga Studio is located at 213 North Main Street, North Wales PA, 215-661-0510.  The suggested donation is $20 but all are welcome!
