  • Trail Steward Hike - Ambler Connection

    4:00 p.m. - PROGRAM FULL

    Join Trail Steward Harm Scherpbier on a 2-mile exploration of the Green Ribbon Trail from Ambler Borough. This hike will show you 3 ways to connect from Ambler into the Green Ribbon trail. We’ll begin and end at Forest and Main, staying for a drink after the hike!

  • Creek Clean Up

    Be part of the 47th annual Creek Clean Up of the Wissahickon Creek and its many tributaries.  Help WVWA clean up the trail and the creek bed too. This program is great for families, scout, school groups and anyone who loves the environment and clean water.

     

  • Evans-Mumbower Mill Open House

    1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

    Season Opener
    Start the 2017 season and feel the excitement of rumbling stones, hear the splash of water over the wheel, and witness the cornmeal as it spills down a chute and into a barrel below.

  • 6:00 p.m. - Expo in Ambler Theater lobby
    7:30 p.m. - Film followed by panel discussion

    WVWA is proud to be a sponsor of the annual Sustainable Film Series hosted by Pennypack Farm & Education Center.  Come early to visit with sponsors. Stay after the film for a panel discussion.

  • Serve the Preserve

    9:00 a.m.

    Help WVWA continue our restoration efforts this spring at Crossways Preserve. Volunteers will remove invasive plants and plant native trees and shrubs. Please wear sturdy shoes for digging, and bring a shovel and gloves if you have them; otherwise we will provide.

  • Rain Barrel Program

    7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

    Purchase a professional, locally made, rain barrel from Camels Hump Rain Barrels.  Learn how to hook up and care for your rain barrel, retaining runoff and reusing the water in your garden!

  • From Soup to Owls

    This program is sold out.
    6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

    Join us at WVWA Headquarters for a delicious soup dinner and presentation about owl biology and the species likely to be found in the Wissahickon. After dinner, we’ll head out for a moonlight walk at Armentrout Preserve in search of these nocturnal wonders.

  • Woodmere Winter Member's Mixer

    4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

    The Woodmere Art Museum is inviting WVWA Members and Volunteers to join them at the Winter Members Mixer.  Warm up, view their current exhibitions, and enjoy some refreshments while you mingle.

  • Maple Sugaring Festival

    Online registration is closed. Walk-in registration available at event. Best tour times available are 1:45 p.m. or later. 

    12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

    Learn how maple syrup and sugar are made - a delicious and fun way to make science come alive! WVWA offers a very special winter event that is ideal for families, scout groups and anyone curious about the maple sugar process.  Guides take small groups through the woods to see the tapped trees and then watch it being boiled into sugar. End your walk at WVWA’s historic headquarters for hot chocolate and warm treats with maple syrup. Tours last approximately 45 minutes.  Last tour leaves at 3:00 p.m.
