Bird Banding Demonstation is SOLD OUT.
Contact WVWA to be added to the waitlist - 215-646-8866 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Come join WVWA Naturalist, Margaret Rohde, and see bird banding in action! Learn about avian conservation and research techniques, and find out what information can be collected by catching wild birds. You may even have the chance to release a bird from your hand!
This is the first year WVWA is operating a banding station during the breeding season; the information we collect will provide us with data on the species using our preserve, and will also be contributed to a continent-wide demographic project, the Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship (MAPS) program. The program was created to determine the causes of bird population decline and to inform and improve conservation efforts.
For more information on the MAPS program, visit http://www.birdpop.org/pages/maps.php.
